The Yaber V5 is a compact, budget-friendly portable projector that transforms any space into a meeting room or entertainment hub.

The pandemic has left us all with more meetings than we used to have before the lockdown. However, that also means there is a constant struggle to get meeting rooms and screens that let everyone see what is being discussed. I have always thought a portable projector that can make any space a meeting room would be handy. The Yaber V5 is exactly that.

The Yaber V5 looks like a regular projector, unlike the new breed of alien-looking portable projectors. However, it is small, about half the size of a regular home projector. It has a control panel on the top while the lens has two rings that let you focus the image and adjust the keystone. Frankly, I have not done this in a while as most new projectors come with auto focus and keystone. On the side, there are a bunch of ports that let you connect content sources like HDMI, USB, and VGA. It even comes with an SD card slot.

The projector has no operating system that gives you access to streaming apps as we see in new devices. Instead, it offers access to files saved on connected devices. You can switch sources and stream directly from a PC using the VGA or HDMI cables. This is how I used it mostly. The HDMI can also be used to connect to an Amazon FireStick in case you want to make it a smarter rig.

If you are one of those with a lot of files saved in USB drives, then that option is there too. I felt the Yaber V5 makes a lot of sense for photographers who want to review their work on a larger screen. For Android users, there is also the ability tomirror the phone screen directly.

Once powered on, the Yaber V5 offers a large image.

In fact, it does not work well if the image size is less than 40 inches. The image size can go up to 150 inches though I had no surface that big at home. While the projector supports 4K UHD, it seems to be projecting in Full HD most of the time. The images are clear and sharp, even while projecting on regular living room walls. There is the option to change the settings of the image and I preferred the cinema mode for its high contrast settings. The audio quality is decent and comes with some stereo effects. But if you are watching a movie on a large screen, I would suggest you use external speakers to give you a better experience.

Given that this is a small projector, a ceiling placement might be the best option for it in the home. For those, on the move, there is a case that makes it easy to carry around. This is not one of the brightest projectors with just 200 ANSI Lumens.
